I had a period in my life ( a while back) , when all I searched on the net were Kimonos and Japanese dolls. I was obsessed with them (for about 3 days). Within that time, I searched everything, from Kimono designs to Geisha make-up, washi tapes and Japanese Cherry trees ! However, it turned out to be another of those 'search binges' I face on the net, where I spent the entire day taking in information and going to sleep. But, not Day 2.
On day 2 , I found these darlings :
The Red darlings
The Blue darlings
And I found I could actually make them, with some pieces of scrap paper and some nifty glue drops here and there ! These are actually addictive, I made 3 of these pretty women. They look good from the back , as well , by the way ;) !
What you need :
1. Scrap paper sheet - 5"X7" ( I used some nice wrapping paper, some crepe paper , some left over brown paper package)
2. Cream or white card paper , slightly thicker ones ( I used the inside part of a corn flakes box. So mine are not as fair as the Japanese should be :P )
3. Some black card paper (for making the hair )
4. A few drops of glue ( I used Fevicol )
How to make it :
This is how the 5"x7" paper is cut -
Please note that this image is the original on 'Chiyogami' paper. If you are a cheapo, (like me) , search 'Chiyogami paper' on Google, go to the 'Images' tab, click on 'large'. Lots of really nice paper images will pop up on the screen, take prints and get going ! ( I didn't tell you this, by the way ;) )
Rest of the steps are detailed out on Omiyage's website. Please feel free to take a look and make this bevy of beauties !
